We recently came across an article about marriage in The NY Times that I really liked. It’s called Try These ‘Love Hacks’ to Fix Your Marriage. It lists several relatively quick and easy things you can do to make things better. Saving a relationship is hard work, but it’s definitely true that in most relationships there are some changes that can be made without great effort that make the overall job easier. This article shares some of the ones that have a solid backing in scientific research.
We especially liked the idea of imagining during an argument what an outside third party who is friend of your marriage would say about the argument. In a controlled experiment at Northwestern U., the couples who did this were more satisfied with their marriage than the ones who didn’t.
